May Market Comment 2016

At last a bit of decent weather with a little bit of warmth – it certainly has taken its time! In the office it has been busy busy! Transactions still seem to be happening with good activity and people still keen to buy. The amount of stock coming on however is still a little low, so when new property comes on at the right price there is good interest straight away. Pretty similar take on the lettings market with demand, as ever, still high with no change. But – the referendum will certainly have an effect. The uncertainty that this create will, I am sure, lead to a temporary slowdown. Such events normally have this effect. So I would anticipate quieter times during the next few weeks until we are all clearer on what is going to happen. Halifax figures are as ever, interesting. The last three months have shown a growth of 2.9% on the final quarter of 2015 with the average growth rate at 10.1% as a national average. Halifax report a slight softening of the market, but believe that the market as a general rule will remain strong – we agree!
